IT ALL STARTED WITH A CHICKEN FARM,
some faith, and a big dream...
It all started with a small chicken farm in Wakiso, Uganda and has led to a proven, comprehensive program that helps survivors heal, transform, and be empowered. Our holistic, transformational program provides wellness services, vocational education, and life skills workshops, for 30 survivors of Commercial Sex Exploitation (CSE) each year.
A PATH TOWARD FREEDOM
This flagship project has grown from its humble beginnings in 2016, when a small salon and boutique provided practical, on-the-job training to ten brave survivors, into a comprehensive and high-impact program that restores dignity, identity, and resilience to survivors of sexual exploitation. We walk alongside the young women, who come through our doors at the 10,000 Lights Women's Centre (10KLWC), in Kampala, Uganda, as they become whole, independent, hopeful and joy filled women.
Our program provides tools for participants to become fully autonomous, as they work through their trauma and heal from lived experinces. They learn vocational and practical life skills which give them the ability to become economicallyt independent and take responsibility for themselves and their children. They become empowered as they rejoin community, model good citizenry and moral codes, and become women of positive influence.
Thank you for your donations for Giving Tuesday!
Your support enabled this class of 26 participants to complete their internships, and are preparing for Graduation in January.
We need your help to continue operations in 2025
With your help, we can hold a modest graduation ceremony at the home of our co-founder, Mr Enyaga, and invite local dignitaries and potential candidates for next year's class. Our graduation ceremonies are crucial to the program. Survivors are able to invite a few close caregivers or family members and share how hard they have worked to heal and hone their skills, and are empowered to join the workforce, or start their own small business. Most importantly, it shows these girls how important their lives are, as it is usually the only time, their lives have been celebrated thus far.
